Cycling the Mosel route with kids! From Nancy (France) to Koblenz (Germany). Wonderful scenery, good weather, full equipment, beautiful cities like Metz and Trier. Mostly off the main road, we cycle close to the river. Science is magic 💫 In the newspaper!! This is the ‘back home again’ interview. The photo has been taken at the start of our 14 day trekking through the Himalaya. Berlin part 2. The Museum für Naturkunde... a must see when you’re in Berlin! Only 50 T-rex skeletons have been found throughout the whole world, but three of them are almost complete. This is one of them! Incredible. As well as his vegan friend, the massive Brachiosaurus... Berlin part 1. The history, the wall, Unter den Linden, Hitler, the war; where to start? And how to explain to your children? Will they get it in some way? I noticed: don’t mind too much, the city is whispering the past in your ears. All the monuments, museums and old signs carry their own story. Berlin is a rich city with many many stories. You just have to listen silent. And feel... I was nine years old when the Berliner Mauer fell. It was kind of strange to see this wall live these days, the same one I’ve seen on TV as a kid. Terra has the same age, she’s nine. “Will there be war again mom?” she asked. Again, what to say? We don’t know, isn’t it? Maila (5 years): “Is that bad guy still alive?” No darling, not anymore. “Pfew... If he would be alive, I think he would be sorry for being such a bad person.” Her answer to this all: she could be the new boss of Germany. She gave a speech in the Deutscher Dom about squirrels and fairies. 😂 I’d vote for her 😍 We’re in the summer edition of ‘Wendy’!!! A well known, famous magazine in the Netherlands. Hiking a part of the Annapurna Circuit with children has learned us a lot. About teamwork, motivation, mindset, resilience, goals, getting waaay out of your comfortzone (for all of us), strength, selfesteem and not to forget the intense bond we have in being a family. One day we’ll be doing the whole circuit together 😄 The most difficult part of travelling is not the journey itself, neither the preparation. It’s coming home... The changeover is massive. “Can we go for a long walk?” she asked. I looked at her. “How long would you like to walk?” “As long as in Nepal!” she replied. 😄⭐️ 7months ago she would ask me something completely different. Something like ‘aren’t we there yet?’ Or ‘why do we have to do this?’ Travelling around the world with kids is life changing. For us and for them. We’re home now for 2,5 weeks and it’s great to see how the children insert their new skills/desires/thoughts/self esteem into their own world. Perth-Doha-Amsterdam-Mook. Home again... It’s a bit surreal to be back in our house, in our village. Peaceful, lovely Nannup.😍😍 What’s the best thing to do at the Pinnacles? Play HIDE AND SEEK! 😂 ——————————————— “You HAVE to go there!” This was the advice of a felllow traveler about the Francois Peron NP. Now I know why. I couldn’t get my eyes of the intense contrasting red, blue and white colours, all together at one glance. No filters needed! Groundhogday at the Ningaloo Reef: ➡️ Waking up with a stunning view from our rooftoptent Do you remember what it was like to feel free, in your own world, when you were young? Terra (our oldest daughter) can dance for hours near the sea. Drowning in her own moves, the sunset being her spotlight. AMAZING!!! Swimming with Manta Rays, turtles, reefsharks and the beautiful fish of the Ningaloo Reef!! We even saw a tigershark! Some typical things of Australia that surprise me, amaze me, make me love the mentality and devotion of this country and its citizens. Driving the Nullarbor Plain boring? No way. One thing for sure; once crossed, you need to redefine the word ‘empty’. The Nullarbor shows you so many different faces of emptiness.
